Elizabeth Warren, Silenced by the Senate, Finds Her Voice on Facebook Live

Elizabeth Warren on to talk about her formal silencing on the Senate floor while reading a letter from Coretta Scott King regarding Sen.

Many people took this as an act of censorship and tyranny - the Senate majority leader using an arcane rule to silence a senator who is merely voicing a civil rights hero's and her own disapproval of Trump's attorney general nominee.

"Sessions had "used the awesome power of his office to chill the free exercise of the vote by black citizens" when he prosecuted voting fraud cases when he was the USA attorney in Alabama", according to the letter read by Warren.

McConnell interrupted Warren Tuesday while she was giving a speech to the near-empty Senate chamber.

"This is about Coretta Scott King's letter and that's all this is about", Senator Warren told reporters. McConnell even unintentionally coined a feminist slogan by saying, "She was warned".

"Mr. President, I am surprised that the words of Coretta Scott King are not suitable for debate in the United States Senate".

U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions was confirmed as U.S. attorney general on Wednesday evening on a 52-47 vote.

But the Republicans overruled her and demanded that she take her seat.

At the time King wrote the Senate Judiciary Committee warning that Sessions used to "intimidate and chill" voters, and that confirming him as a judge would have "a devastating effect" on the USA justice system.

The hours leading up to the vote were contentious.

Warren promised to her followers on Twitter that she "will not be silent" in her opposition to the prospective attorney general, whom she said "has made derogatory & racist comments that have no place in our justice system". Warren is now forbidden from speaking during the remainder of the debate on the nomination of Sessions.

"It's a letter full of heart and its a letter full of advice to us".

But what the Republicans didn't predict was having the words of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell turned into fuel for the Democratic Party. "It is an fantastic letter", Warren said.
