Mary Berry's Great British Bake Off replacement may have been revealed

Mary Berry's Great British Bake Off replacement may have been revealed

Prue Leith, the cookery expert, has been tipped to replace Mary Berry as a judge on The Great British Bake Off.

'Both are from similar backgrounds, so hopefully viewers will be accepting and give Prue a chance to win them over. But the producers are confident that...

A source told The Sun newspaper: "In cookery circles, she's [Prue] practically royalty".

She has appeared on TV before, having starred as a judge on BBC show The Great British Menu.

Love Productions, which makes the Bake Off format, clearly believe she can quickly develop screen chemistry with fellow judge Paul Hollywood, who stayed with the show after its £75m transfer to Channel 4.

Prue Leith is set to replace Mary Berry as a judge on "The Great British Bake Off", according to reports.

You might have seen her on TV before.

If the rumours are true, Prue would join original judge Paul Hollywood, who decided to make the move to Channel 4 after they bought the rights to the popular show.

She has also sat on the boards of major corporations. In October 2016 Prue married retired designer John Playfair and admitted in a Daily Mail column she "never dreamed I'd fall in love again".

And it seems that bosses may have found the flawless replacement: cookery writer, Prue Leith.

Leith has also been open about her personal life, revealing in her memoir, Relish: My Life on a Plate that she had a 13-year affair with author Rayne Kruger, the husband of her mother's best friend. She has written12 cookery books, six novels and a memoir, Relish.

In 1974 she founded her own cookery school, Leith's School of Food and Wine, which trains professional chefs and amateur cooks.

Leith is a former chair of the Children's Food Trust, which campaigns to encourage the nation's children to eat more healthily, and was awarded an OBE in 1989 and a CBE in the 2010 Birthday Honours.
