How to use Messenger Day, Facebook's new Snapchat-like feature

How to use Messenger Day, Facebook's new Snapchat-like feature

Facebook Messenger Day is preferred to Snapchat Stories by some users due to the fact that older generations don't use the Snap product, but they do use Facebook and this will allow them a portal that that they can use to see what their kid or grandkid is up to. That, along with the new features and services being rolled out for Messenger and WhatsApp, provides ample reason to think the apps can turn into major top-line contributors in the future. The feature lets you share photos and videos that will self-destruct after 24 hours. It stays there for only 24 hours before vanishing - much like Snapchat stories.

This news looks to just be compounding an already-dire situation for Snapchat, which has seen its stock prices drop around 24 percent over the last two days. For the past six months, this feature was under testing in Poland and now the Facebook Messenger Day is launching to all the users across the globe. So, tapping on, say, a Brooklyn sticker in a story will take you to Instagram's location page for Brooklyn.

To add art and effects, tap the smiley face icon in the top right and then tap to add to your photo or video.

Tap of the "Aa" icon to add text on the screen.

Once you have your photo or video the way you want it, tap the arrow in the bottom right corner.

Crucially, you can control exactly who can see your story, so not every one of your distant acquaintances and relatives can use it to snoop on your life if you'd rather they didn't. They can then decide if they want to hide their Day from any users or share with everyone. Besides adding an image to Day, users can also save it to their camera roll or send it to someone.

The social network introduced a new feature on Thursday as part of its standalone Messenger app that lets you tell the story of what's going on in your day as part of your status.

After taking a photo or video in a chat, users can also add it to their Day.

Facebook reports that millions of people around the world have already used Messenger Day since the company began testing the feature late previous year.
