Hawaiian Airlines cancels today's Honolulu-New York flights due to storm

Hawaiian Airlines cancels today's Honolulu-New York flights due to storm

A powerful winter storm affecting much of the Northeast has impacted dozens of flights Tuesday in the Bay Area, with almost 100 flight cancellations.

Freezing rain was reported farther south in the mid-Atlantic, including parts of Washington, DC, leading to an accumulation of up to one-quarter inch of ice at Baltimore - Washington International Airport.

Unfortunately for fliers, those tallies were likely to soar.

- The blizzard that is bearing down on the Northeast is expected to cause flight cancelations across the region.

In New York, American canceled all Tuesday flights out of John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International airports.

Hawaiian says it will waive all reservation change fees and differences in fares for customers traveling to, from or via New York/JFK through Wednesday, March 15, 2017. "And it's important for passengers to realize that while some airlines have eliminated fees to change your ticket due to the snowstorm, if you booked through a third-party site, you need to check with them".

Is your flight on time? .

The preemptive cancellations and weather waivers come as the storm was expected to hit its peak in the Northeast on Tuesday.

We are sorry for the disruption to your travel plans and are doing all we can to minimise the effect the weather forecast will have on our USA operations.

As of 11 a.m. EDT, almost every LaGuardia flight scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled, but only 772 of 1,200 flights at JFK have been cancelled, raising the possibility that some flights later in the day could operate. Similarly, Boston and Baltimore had pared back most flights before Tuesday morning.

Taking a look on FlightAware's website, cancellation listings portray Monday, March 13 to already consist of around 2,400 delays and over 1,280 cancellations before it even hit 10a.m.

She says if she had known her flight wasn't going to make it, she could've found another way to get to Chicago, including some other airlines that were flying out.
