EPA Refuses to Release Pruitt Emails, Leaves Public in Dark

API Downstream Group Director Frank Macchiarola said that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) action to put an administrative stay on the agency's Risk Management Plan Rule is important to protecting the security of industrial facilities throughout the country. How tragic for all of us that we don't have a scientist heading the EPA.

"Pruitt clearly violated the Environmental Protection Agency's Scientific Integrity Policy by publicly denying that carbon pollution is driving the climate crisis" Sierra Club attorney Elena Saxonhouse said in a statement". Pruitt has sparked outrage with his latest expression of climate change skepticism.

The Center's February 28 request seeks Pruitt's correspondence on EPA and any other accounts that address only work-related matters, all of which must be made public under the law.

In the letter, the Sierra Club's lawyers said Pruitt's comments contradicted a "comprehensive review" of scientific research on climate change and appeared to be politically motivated.

In a CNBC interview last week, Pruitt said he "would not agree that [carbon dioxide is] a primary contributor to the global warming that we see", something that does not align with the EPA's own previous findings, nor the overwhelming scientific consensus regarding the matter. But we don't know that yet...

This is not a philosophical debate about regulations or "deconstructing government", but about our health, our safety and the world we're going to leave to our children. This time, that carbon dioxide is not the primary contributor to climate change. As such, the organization contended, they violated the agency's Scientific Integrity Policy, adopted in 2012 to ensure that scientific information was being communicated effectively to the media and public "uncompromised by political or other interference".

If his concerns about the EPA were really rooted in governance and over-regulation, Pruitt would be advocating for market-based solutions to climate change.

"It is extremely likely that human activities have been the dominant cause of global warming", the EPA website reads.
