Mom: Clogged 911 calls led to baby's death in Dallas

Mom: Clogged 911 calls led to baby's death in Dallas

Six-month-old Brandon Alex died when his babysitter couldn't reach 911 in a timely fashion.

The details behind the two deaths, both of which happened in Dallas, read like a true horror story.

Since November, the city of Dallas has reportedly been having problems with "ghost calls" overwhelming the 911 call center.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said in a statement that it was "outrageous" T-Mobile had not yet resolved the glitch. He called again, but was put on hold for 20 minutes. "Legere committed to sending his top engineers to Dallas tomorrow morning", the city's announcement said.

Regardless of what the city says, there is absolutely some accountability that needs to be taken by city officials and T-Mobile, particularly because this risky issue has been happening for months and is not yet resolved.

Taffet says as he performed CPR, his call to 911 was dropped. "But because you didn't, my son is gone and I have to bury him on Monday".

That's because Howard said they are required to return any missed phone calls with a call back number.

Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax said that the city has known about an issue with 911 calls since October. The 911 dispatchers need to then call the numbers back to verify the calls, which in turn means legitimate callers are placed on hold.

The city plans to have police officers with dispatch experience work overtime at the 911 call center this week and offer training to other city personnel who are willing to help out. That shitshow came just a few months after a teenager sent out a malicious link on Twitter that forced iPhones to call 911 repeatedly and abruptly hang up. His mother, Bridget Alex, was on hold with a 911 operator when he died.

Bridget Alex said she was at her sister's house after the funeral for her 19-year-old nephew when the baby- sitter called her frantically. "At the end of the day, I'm still going to be here hurt, because he's not going to be here", she said.

"We take every call seriously as well", she said. "Like I thought 911 one was supposed to be there to help us but in this case I lost my son".

Regional news station WFAA reports that this past Saturday, 442 callers were put on hold for an average 38 minutes.

Alex blames her son's death on the City of Dallas and T-Mobile for failing to fix the problem. The boy's cause of death remains undetermined, the Collin County medical examiner's office said.

Sadly Cross was pronounced dead at the hospital.

"I want them to take responsibility of my son's death".
