'Power Rangers' actor pleads guilty to killing roommate

'Power Rangers' actor pleads guilty to killing roommate

Ricardo Medina, who spent time in Auckland in 2011 making Power Rangers Samurai, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in relation to the death of his room-mate in early 2015.

Over two years after Ricardo Medina's roommate was stabbed to death, the ex-Power Rangers actor pleaded guilty today to killing Josh Sutter. The ex-Power Ranger - best known for his role as Cole Evans (the Red Ranger) in 2002's "Power Rangers Wild Force" - now faces up to six years in state prison.

At a preliminary hearing in October, prosecutors played a 911 recording in which Medina could be heard talking to Sutter after the stabbing: "Damn it, Josh".

Although he originally pleaded not guilty to murder, the 38-year-old admitted to a charge of voluntary manslaughter on Thursday, KTLA reported.

The argument led to Medina stabbing his roommate multiple times with a sword, the D.A.'s office said. The two argued frequently and at one point he threatened to release the dogs into the wild, she said.

Sutter was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The actor was not initially charged after claiming self-defense, but he was arrested a second time on January 14, 2016.

According to The Guardian, Medina and Sutter got into an argument.

Power Rangers Samurai, which was on screens from 2011 to 2012, was his last listed acting job.

Medina's attorney, Allen Bell, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. After the matter was investigated, Medina was taken into custody where he would remain until he was released on $1 million bail in February of 2015.

He has also appeared in an episode of ER and one of CSI: Miami. If convicted, he would have faced life in prison with the chance of parole after 26 years.
