Heat call Dwyane Wade's elbow injury 'heartbreaking'

Heat call Dwyane Wade's elbow injury 'heartbreaking'

The good news for Wade is that he will not require surgery and that there is a slim chance he could return for the playoffs if the Bulls were able to pull off the improbable feat.

Before the injury, Dwayne Wade was averaging 18.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in his first season with the Chicago Bulls. At 32-36 following Wednesday night's loss, the Bulls are now 10th in the Eastern Conference looking into the playoff picture.

Dwyane Wade's season is now officially over. Wade, however, has said he holds no ill-will toward Rondo.

There is ample evidence that some players on the Bulls are ready for larger roles, especially without Wade's half-court strengths on offense.

We know this isn't the be-all, end-all for Wade because he said in training camp that winning a title was "unrealistic" for this Chicago team.

The Chicago Bulls can kiss their hopes to reach the Playoffs goodbye. Because in the wake of the elbow injury that will keep the Chicago Bulls guard out for at least the balance of the regular season, he was in just about everyone's thoughts. Chicago had brought together Wade and former rival Rajon Rondo to go along with established star Jimmy Butler. Any lengthy losing streak will spell doom for the Bulls, and without Wade, a crash can certainly happen.

Wade, 35, left the Heat last summer for a two-year, $47 million free-agent contract with the Bulls. Wade has expressed frustration with Bulls' head coach Fred Hoiberg throughout the season in addition to the team's front office.

The Bulls made a pact after missing the playoffs last season to get younger and faster. Tensions between players and the coaching staff have bubbled up all season, and the Bulls locker room has been a fractious place. The Bulls will try to climb back toward the No. 8 spot in the East when they host the Grizzlies on Wednesday.
