Beijing, Saudi Arabia agree to more oil cooperation, exports to China

Saudi Arabia says Iranian citizens will attend this year's annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, after missing last year's event following a bitter rift between Riyadh and Tehran.

In addition to clarifying Trump's attitudes towards Islam, the pair also discussed Saudi investment in America, with the Prince crediting Trump for improving America's economic climate. Prince Mohammed expressed his regrets that Saudi Arabia did not apply this experience earlier on the Saudi-Yemeni border, noting that the success of the northern border experience will accelerate applying it on the Saudi southern border.

For the first time in almost three decades, Iran's pilgrims, almost 60,000, did not attend the hajj in 2016 after the two countries failed to agree on security and logistics.

Saudi Arabia's official SPA news agency also reported that the kingdom had completed all necessary arrangements for Iranian pilgrims to attend the annual hajj pilgrimage.

Already strained over a list of differences, relations between the two countries took a nosedive after the 2015 hajj, when a human crush killed more than 2,400 pilgrims, including more than 464 Iranians in Mina.

Saudi Arabia claims almost 770 people were killed in the incident, but officials at Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization say about 4,700 people, including over 460 Iranian pilgrims, lost their lives.

The visit reflects the Kingdom's endeavors to cement Islamic solidarity and encourage the ranks of united Muslims to allow them to enjoy their true position among the world countries thanks to their enormous potentials and resources, he said.

Ties worsened further when Sunni-ruled Saudi Arabia executed a Shi'ite cleric in January 2016, angry Iranian protesters stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran, and Riyadh severed diplomatic relations. Though he did not elaborate, Saudi Arabia's main source of anger at Obama was going along with the nuclear deal with Iran.
