SpaceX launches communications satellite into orbit

SpaceX efficaciously launched a communications satellite in the trajectory for satellite operator EchoStar after it launched it on board one of the Falcon 9 rocket. The satellite will be place in orbit more that 35,000 kilometers above the earth and provide telecommunications service to Brazil, SpaceX said.

SpaceX will be transitioning to the Falcon Heavy rocket soon as the Falcon 9 is nearing its final upgrade version.

LC39A was the launch site for the Apollo 11 moon mission and for the last space shuttle in 2011. And soon after, the company will launch its first-ever payload for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office. The Falcon Heavy (formerly known as the Falcon 9 Heavy) is a different beast. Because of the difficulty in launching this satellite, SpaceX didn't try to recover the first stage. In its tweet, the US-based company confirmed the victorious deployment of the EchoStar 23 satellite via Falcon 9 rocket into the geosynchronous transfer orbit.

Last year, SpaceX received the first NSS launch services contract, worth around $82m, to launch GPS III-2 satellite in May 2018. The Falcon Heavy and Falcon 9 Block 5 should both launch at some point later this year. There were two factors behind this.

Elon Musk has struck gold again as SpaceX has bagged a $96.5 million contract with the U.S. Air Force. The SpaceX satellite launch was successful on its second attempt. It edged out rival United Launch Alliance to win an Air Force contract, worth $96.5 million, for the launch of a Global Positioning System satellite in February 2019. Narrators explain the stages of the EchoStar XXII launch as it happens to make it easier to watch and understand.
