Ford Created a Baby Crib Which Simulates a Car Ride

Ford Motor Company has developed "Max Motor Dreams" in the hopes of making parents' everyday lives a little easier.

The parent collects the sensory elements of the ride via a smartphone app and transmits them to the cot, which combines low engine sound, a gently rocking motion and surrounding LED lights simulating passing streetlights. A new crib developed by Ford simulates the sights, sounds, and motion of a tranquil auto ride so that mom and dad can save themselves the trip.

Some babies won't sleep unless they get a nighttime cruise around the neighborhood, as many parents (my own included) can attest. It also gently vibrates to provide the sense of movement and motion that's felt during vehicle rides.

However, this is not the first instance of a smart crib.

Alright, I lied. This crib probably won't make your offspring enjoy the sound of a V-12 with ITBs, or express the slightest bit of interest in the insane bosozoku cars stancing their way around Japan. They got to go for a drive and I got to nap; pretty sweet concept. You have to make an appointment to test drive a Ford in Spain, and once you complete the test drive, you'll be entered into a raffle.

‟For now, the Max Motor Dreams is a one-off pilot, ˮ Ford says in a news release. Ford says it is considering mass producing the crib due to popular demand. The motion? That's down to small motors under the bed that provide movement so it feels like the crib is in motion - even though it's not actually moving.
