Ozil inspires Arsenal win over West Ham

The 28-year-old was the star of the show during Arsenal's win over West Ham.

The England forward hit the second goal in what proved to be a routine 3-0 victory, with Mesut Ozil opening the scoring and substitute Olivier Giroud wrapping up a vital three points for the Gunners.

The Gunners have recently gone through a poor spell of form, prompting some fans to call for the Frenchman to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

"We had to work for it, it has obviously been a challenging few weeks to be honest", he said. We are always praised maybe more than we deserve it when it goes well, and punished more than we deserve it when it doesn't go well.

Wenger said: "We had to be patient and not make a mistake". We know with a Sam Allardyce team that they are very well organised, very strong and unsafe from set pieces too. We needed to go back to basics and we did against West Ham.

"We stopped their best players being with a lot of space, one against one".

And experienced defender Collins summed up the importance of Saturday's home match against the Welsh side when he said: "It's a massive game, the biggest at West Ham for many a year because, if we don't win it, we're sucked right into a relegation fight". West Ham were struggling to get out of their area as they faced an Arsenal onslaught.

"As players we are just thinking about the next game". When they crashed out they had to play these players because of injuries.

It was in fact Ozil's first goal for the club since 10th December and his manager believes that the player has finally managed to recover following the devastating blow of the loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

"I'm used to dealing with hard periods but you want people who love the club to be happy, so I'm happy". Belief can help you get the confidence back in no time.

The 29-year-old East London born Noble has really struggled this season, and his individual performances have exemplified West Ham's struggles as a whole, with Bilic's side now languishing in 15th in the Premier League table, just five points clear of the relegation zone.

Bilic continued to stress how essential three points is at the London Stadium this coming weekend, as the Hammers are now also on a seven-match winless run.
