Google Home could soon support multiple accounts

The setting page reads, "The default Google Account is the account you used to set up Google Home".

Amazon Alexa on Echo smart speakers does now have multiple user support, and you can do that by setting up multiple profiles.

However, while the card says the feature is now supported, those same Google Home owners have discovered that is not quite the case just yet. More and more companies are trying to design the ideal digital assistant that suits their customers.

Google added this functionality earlier this year, with more than 50 Google Express retail partners, including Costco, Staples, Walgreens, and of course, the Google Store. One of those problems could besolved now. That is if a generic card showing up in the Google Home app is an indicator. Android Police spotted the beginnings of multiple user support in the Google Home app last month, which would see multiple users training Google Home to respond to the "OK Google" hotword. Despite the fact that users received this message, the feature is still not available.

The word "currently" indicates that this could change soon. It looks like Google is finally gearing up to fix this situation, with the company recently declaring that "multiple users now supported".

"Multiple users now supported". And we'd like it to integrate with more of the smart devices in our home.

This means the Google Assistant should recognize different users giving them a catered experience.

Previous rumors indicated that once it gets multi-user support, Google Home will also be able to distinguish between users's voices to automatically figure out who's speaking. Some reports suggest developers seek to displace essential gadgets like landlines and routers.
