Fitbit watch supposedly delayed due to production mishaps

Fitbit watch supposedly delayed due to production mishaps

According to a new report from Yahoo Finance, Fitbit's smartwatch will not launch until the fall because of certain production issues.

According to sources speaking with Yahoo Finance, Fitbit's smartwatch was initially launching this spring, but GPS problems due to antenna positioning in a few prototypes delayed production to the fall. This particular problem forced the company to go back to the drawing board and redesign the entire smartwatch just so that the Global Positioning System received a strong signal. Fitbit's smartwatch is said to include a color display with peak brightness of 1,000 nits, which would make it comparable to Apple Watch Series 2.

In one of their final prototypes, the Global Positioning System was actually not working, and having one is a differentiating factor that they were going to push. If it isn't waterproof, critics may perceive it to be an inferior product to Apple's - especially given that the device will launch roughly a year after the Apple Watch Series 2. It already has a good reputation in the fitness tracker market. Fitbit had intentions to create a device that scored points in both design and functionality matters, with "focus on health and fitness". After the takeover of two smartwatch making companies and its own CEO confirming it, Fitbit is on track of releasing a real smartwatch this year. The design of the new watch is allegedly not too different from that of the Blaze, and is "definitely not sexy". All we know for now is that they are likely to come in two colours, "Nightfall Blue" and "Lunar Gray", and that they will be released alongside the new smartwatch. We don't have news to share at this time and do not comment on rumors or speculation.
