Jude Law to play young Dumbledore in 'Fantastic Beasts' sequel

Jude Law to play young Dumbledore in 'Fantastic Beasts' sequel

Now that he's a hot ticket in Hollywood again, he's been offered a variety of roles, but the biggest offer just came today, when he was cast in the part of young Dumbledore in the sequel to last year's success story, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

This mention of Dumbledore is particularly interesting when you realize it is Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) who is asking about Dumbledore and not Graves.

According to The Huffington Post, Jude Law will play Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore in his younger years.

A release date has been pencilled in for late 2018, so there is a while to go until we get to find out how heavily their relationship will feature. Harris' father, Richard Harris, originated the role in the Harry Potter movie franchise until his death in 2002. "We'll see him at that formative period of his life", she added.

Law will next be seen in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and recently made waves as Lenny Belardo in HBO's The Young Pope.

The first "Fantastic Beasts" movie was a box office success, bringing in over $800 million globally. You may recall that, in the first Fantastic Beasts film, Grindelwald (disguised as Graves, at this point) mentioned that Dumbledore defended Newt when he was kicked out of Hogwarts.
