Penguins' Fleury to stay in net for Game 2 vs Blue Jackets

Penguins' Fleury to stay in net for Game 2 vs Blue Jackets

The two teams faced off during the 2014 postseason which saw the Blue Jackets win their first ever postseason game, but eventually lost to the Penguins in six games.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are always one of the best teams in the league. "We're going to expect the exact same thing or more", Allen said. Suddenly, teams could no longer win just by shutting down the two-headed monster. When healthy and engaged, Malkin and Crosby give the Penguins perhaps the best one-two punch in the National Hockey League.

"He's a special player". We're going to have to be very disciplined against this club. Evgeni Malkin finished the game with two assists. Sullivan even had to confirm Murray's start, saying the 22-year-old netminder was "fine" and "ready to go" for Game 1.

The same goes for Lundqvist, who couldn't wait for a shot at redemption after the worst regular season of his career.

To hear Scott Hartnell explain it, Columbus doesn't see much of a difference between facing Matt Murray or Marc-Andre Fleury.

"We weren't nervous", Tortorella said.

If Fleury continues this level of play, Sullivan will be hard pressed to remove him from the crease in favor of Murray upon his return.

ABOUT THE BLUE JACKETS (50-24-8): Rookie Zach Werenski (upper body) returned to practice Tuesday and is expected to end a four-game absence by suiting up against Pittsburgh. It's not easy. What can you do?

Columbus coach John Tortorella doesn't want to mute that; he just doesn't want his players to stray outside the rules to the point where the potent Penguins get power play after power play. It's a power play that has a lot of moving pieces. What about Bob? That's Blue Jackets goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky. For the Columbus Blue Jackets, it is mostly about trying to reach the second round of the playoffs for the first time in the history of its franchise.

The Blue Jackets netted their only goal of the game on a Pittsburgh turnover in its own zone. "He seemed to carry himself in such a professional way with humility and (as) a selfless man, and I think we can all learn from his legacy". I had a long conversation this summer with Scotty about how to repeat and some of his insights. "That probably is an example of how highly I think of him as a hockey coach and as a person".

The Minnesota Wild couldn't have produced a more relentless attack against St. Louis in Game 1, only to have goalie Jake Allen deny them again and again during a 2-1 overtime victory by the Blues, but feeling defeated after a series opener would be the most unsafe reaction.
