Investigates: Arrest made in connection with death of Princeton jogger Vanessa Marcotte

An employee at Google's New York City office, Marcotte went missing during a jog while visiting her mother.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said the week after her death that Marcotte likely struggled with her attacker, leaving visible "scratches, scrapes and/or bruises", he said. August 7th by a state police canine unit in a wooded area about a half-mile from her mother's home.

"Vanessa Marcotte was a much loved member of the Google team, working in our NY office for the previous year and a half, and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work and love of Boston sports", a Google spokesperson said previously. She worked as an account manager for Google in NY.

Authorities confirmed Worcester resident Angelo Colon Ortiz, 31, was taken into police custody in connection with the case Friday night. Early said he anticipates a murder charge against Colon-Ortiz, who is expected to be arraigned Tuesday. State Police troopers had spoken with Colon-Ortiz earlier in the investigation after observing him in a truck that matched descriptions of a vehicle seen near the crime scene.

Police said Marcotte's body was naked and partially burned.

"I think everyone just wants justice for her, so maybe that can start and a little bit of healing can start maybe", one woman said.

"Ms. Marcotte's family waited, waited and hoped", said Col. Rick McKeon of Massachusetts State Police. Scientists at the private Parabon NanoLab crafted the profile, describing a 30-year-old Hispanic or Latino man with an athletic build and very short hair.

Authorities received thousands of tips related to the case.
