Spicer sparks outrage over Holocaust claim

Spicer sparks outrage over Holocaust claim

As my colleague Jacob Gardenswartz notes, "Spicer's Tuesday comments are but the latest in a series of anti-Semitic dog whistles and Holocaust denials emanating from the president, his staff, and his family". "Who can not even acknowledge what happened in the Holocaust by calling them 'Holocaust centers.' Who say that Hitler didn't use gas on his people". They are there to home school Sean Spicer on the history of the Holocaust and teach him to correctly pronounce Bashar al-Assad.

"On a professional level it's disappointing because I think I've let the President down", Spicer said Wednesday. "Your comparisons between Assad and Hitler were not only historically inaccurate but they also were inappropriate and offensive".

Spicer's Hitler comments, and the Remembrance Day letters omissions, would be stunning coming from any USA president's administration.

"Frankly, I mistakenly made an inappropriate and insensitive reference to the Holocaust, for which there is no comparison", Spicer said.

The ADL offers similar programs on an array of topics to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

"It really is painful to myself to know that I did something like that", Spicer said.

Nazis murdered Jews in gas chambers during the Holocaust by the millions with the use of chemical gas agents like Zyklon B, Jewish groups asserted.

At a town hall meeting in the Denver area Wednesday night, Republican Representative Mike Coffman told people that President Trump's chief spokesman needs to resign or be fired because he's not serving Trump well. What irks me about this is as a grandchild of a Holocaust survivor, I find this disturbing. However, I was trying to draw a contrast of the tactic of using aeroplanes to drop chemical weapons on innocent people. "I apologize. It was a mistake to do that".

Overnight, Israel's Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz called Spicer's comments "grave and outrageous".

But again, despite the fact that what Sean Spicer originally said was completely wrong and there are rightfully calls for his resignation, this particular Facebook post was a hoax. And inexcusable and reprehensible, too.

The comment caused massive outrage immediately and after numerous attempts to give his words a different context, Spicer apologized in an interview on CNN.

It was the second consecutive day in which President Donald Trump's principal spokesman appeared to struggle to articulate Trump's foreign policy at a critical time.

The press secretary's no stranger to situations like this.
