Lorde announces surprise show ahead of Coachella, first in over two years

The performer's songs were captured on tape, and the performance is now going viral with people interested in her new music! "Nobody has heard it", Lorde told the crowd before "Homemade Dynamite".

Melodrama is out June 16. Various cell phone cinematographers managed to get down portions of the set list, including a new song, "Sober", and the recently debuted "Green Light".

She is due to take to the stage at Coachella on Sunday (16Apr17) at the first weekend of the festival in Indio, with acts including Justice, New Order and headliner Kendrick Lamar also scheduled to perform.

The song is called Homemade Dynamite, has an upbeat, clubby vibe, and includes the lines: "So let's let things come out of the woodwork / I'll give you my best side, tell you all my best lies".

Last night Lorde played her first live gig in close to three years; an intimate pre-Coachella affair in front of around 300 people.

In what Billboard described as a "far cry from her stripped down performance" in 2014, Lorde's full-production set was full of lights, dancing and even a box full of dancers replicating a club scene.

The ten-song setlist was comprised mostly of old material, including Pure Heroine hits "Royals" and "Tennis Court".
