Dude Steals 100 Phones at Coachella. Gets Caught

The Los Angeles Times reports that the festivalgoers used the "Find My iPhone" app to spot 36-year-old Reinaldo De Jesus Henao.

According to KTLA, Reinaldo De Jesus Henao was arrested on Friday (April 14) by Indio police on charges of grand theft and possession of stolen property. But, when thieves are detected using the "Find My iPhone" app, things become interesting, as they did at the Coachella festival in Indio, California.

Henao had over 130 phones in his backpack, many of which have already been returned to their rightful owners, with the rest turned into Coachella's lost and found department.

The signals led them all to one man. However, the move didn't work.

After police kept extra eyes on that area and failed to find a suspect, it was the fans that came through. Several festival-goers noticed that their cellphones were missing and activated their "Find My iPhone" feature, which provides users with the Global Positioning System location of their phones. "[The police] took over from there after security had him detained".

The first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival closed with hundreds of people claiming their iPhones had been stolen. They pretty much included halter tops, feathers, short shorts and the most retro frames you can find. Plus the writhing mass of people at a concert makes it hard to keep track of belongings.
