Pacers could have Glenn Robinson III back for Game 2

Pacers could have Glenn Robinson III back for Game 2

The Cavaliers hold a 2-0 series lead, with Game 3 set for Thursday night in Cleveland. The missed opportunities allowed IN to stay within striking distance throughout most of the game, giving the Pacers an opportunity to get the win at the end. Cleveland is 12-0 when starting 2-0 in the postseason.

Game three is on Friday morning (AEST).

The Pacers trailed by as many as 18 as Nate McMillan had no sense to remove Lance Stephenson from a Kevin Love onslaught, but a gutsy fourth quarter pushed IN to as close as four points IN the final minute. Love went on a personal 10-0 run to extend Cleveland's edge to a game-high 19 points, the kind of cushion they needed given their fourth-quarter woes showed up once again.

Update (11:48 p.m. EDT): He ain't happy.

Smith scored just three points in Game 2, but his assignment in the first-round Eastern Conference playoff series is to guard All-Star Paul George.

Kevin Seraphin has seen extra minutes in his absence.

Paul George had another nice game versus star rival James finishing with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. He also was 12-of-12 from the free-throw line, capping his performance with two key freebies with 17.5 remaining to once again give the Cavs a two-possession lead while IN was storming back late.

One thing to keep an eye on for the Cavaliers is the health status of J.R. Smith.

Despite losing the opener, Pacers coach Nate McMillian insisted his team hadn't lost any confidence. If we give up 100 points and we win by one, I don't really care. "We came in believing, we still believe".

It just got a lot harder.

While Teague can score effectively, the only other player on the roster (short of Al Jefferson, who would allow the Cavs to shoot 70% instead of a lowly 60%) who has shown explosive abilities is Myles Turner. He's been out since March 26 with a sprained left ankle.

Smith finished with three points on 1-for-3 shooting and one turnover in 19 minutes, while Shumpert had five points in 20 minutes. IN executed much better than the Cavs for a large portion of the game, and still could not come up with the win.

Cavaliers: James (357) jumped Magic Johnson (358) for third place in career playoff steals and hopped Robert Parish for eighth in rebounds. A moment of silence was observed for Robert Godwin Sr., the 73-year-old tragically gunned down by the Facebook assailant.

The Cavaliers converted 11 of their 18 looks from the field in the third quarter and built an 18-point lead, 96-78, over the Pacers after 36 minutes of play in Game 2. James has scored at least 30 points with 10 assists in 13 career playoff games, trailing only Jerry West (14) and Michael Jordan (15).
