Sheriff's deputy shot in Oklahoma, suspect at large

Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux told reporters the deputy was shot several times, including in the face, while serving an eviction notice Tuesday morning near Mulhall, about 50 miles north of Oklahoma City. Wade was transported by Mediflight to OU Medical Center where he was treated, according to information from the Guthrie News Leader, but later died from his gunshot wounds.

Authorities in Oklahoma are searching for a man after he shot a Logan County sheriff's deputy on Tuesday morning, stole a vehicle and fled from police.

Kera Philippi said she had heard earlier in the day that Wade was still alive, but she did not know his condition. The sheriff said Wade was "a warrior". "You know, he gave his life serving his community and I don't think you can have a bigger honor than that", Devereaux said, choking back tears.

LeForce was found in a nearby outbuilding, where he surrendered to authorities, Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. John Vincent said.
