National Hockey League playoffs: Kevin Fiala wins it for Predators

Fans at the Nashville Predators versus Chicago Blackhawks NHL playoff game were in for one heck of a surprise April 17, as country superstar Carrie Underwood came out and absolutely rocked the National Anthem.

Daunic told Channel 4 the atmosphere inside Bridgestone Arena was electric for Game 3. He skated Saturday and Sunday, and his return would be a big boost especially in the absence of Roman Polak, who's done for the playoffs. Fiala almost won the game twice earlier in the extra session before he took a pass from James Neal and wheeled around Crawford for the goal.

Even the most gold-tinted glasses Pred fan couldn't imagine what was to come. Rasmussen's backhander eluded Rinne and the Blackhawks owned their first lead of the series. We've got to find a way to put pressure on them. Patrick Kane has Chicago's other tally.

That is exactly what Nashville did.

Another inch or two of loft on Fiala's whistling wrist shot from the slot and he would've been engraved in Predators history. Only a freakish bounce allowed Nashville to beat him as a shot bounced off the glass to the front of the net and on the stick of Filip Forsberg who scored to make it 2-1. The winger finished Game three with nine shots on goal. The Predators beat the Blackhawks in the first two games of the series in Chicago, keeping the Hawks from ever even scoring in both games.

Then with just under 6:00 left, Forsberg knocked a puck out of the air with his stick, collected it and fired it past Crawford, tying the game at two and forcing OT.

Thus far through three playoff games, against what was heralded as one of the top teams in the league, Fiala has excelled. Take a look for yourself. You talk about experiences you grow and learn from, whether they're coming back in the third period or not - a young player like Kevin - I thought that he played a really good game tonight. Smashville insanity level up to 9. Fiala has been all over the ice since his last recall from Milwaukee, playing like a young man possessed... adding an element of effort to his unbelievable talent level.

"We kind of sat back and they had way more chances than us in overtime", Kane said. They lost that series in seven games to Vancouver.

Let's go to the GBU...

He also has some qualities that you just can't teach, though. Outstanding performances all. Oh... and the serious lack of red in Smashville last night... that was very good. Now Chicago is getting a different sort of lesson. So if I was wrong about Nashville, does that mean I was wrong about Chicago, the top team in the Western Conference? "They're a great team and we're going to enjoy this right now and then go for the next one".

Time for a new mantra for Pred Nation...

The Blackhawks face a Herculean task starting with Thursday night's game.

- Another overall solid defensive effort... this team's possession stats have been incredible over this series.

Never has the franchise rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series.

- Toronto has a surprising 2-1 lead over Washington in their series after last night's overtime win at the ACC.

Prior to Game 3, Nashville led their Stanley Cup Playoffs series vs.

Rinne stole Game 1, but Nashville mostly dominated Game 2. However Monday night proved a bit more challenging, with the game spilling into overtime and also technically into Tuesday morning. 9pm - EDM @ SJS (NBCSN).

The Capitals, Blackhawks and Wild are playing good hockey.
