James scores 35, Cavs take 3-0 lead with 115-94 victory

James scores 35, Cavs take 3-0 lead with 115-94 victory

Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James (23) drives against Toronto Raptors' Norman Powell (24) during the first half in Game 2 of a second-round NBA basketball playoff series, Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in Cleveland.

All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry, who has a left ankle sprain, considers himself doubtful for Sunday's Game 4 as the Toronto Raptors try to avoid a sweep against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Even without Lowry, the Raptors only trailed 79-77 to begin the fourth, but Cleveland pulled away as Toronto missed 10 of its first 11 field goal attempts in the final quarter.

For three quarters, the Toronto Raptors kept things from getting out of control. Last year, they were 99-84 winners in Game 3 with DeRozan scoring 32 points and won 105-99 in Game 4 with Lowry scoring 35.

Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry was "pretty upset" with James's ball-spinning.

Game 3 is Friday night at Toronto's Air Canada Centre, where the Raptors will have the crowd on their side.

After getting treatment nearly all of Thursday and most of Friday, Lowry tried to go through the pre-game layup line but left after just a few minutes.

- With Miami in 2012, he saved the Heat from elimination - and silenced some of his most boisterous critics - by scoring 45 points with 15 rebounds in a Game 6 win at Boston, where his first stint with the Cavs ended with him yanking off his jersey following a season-ending loss.

Cleveland regained the lead on a basket by Love with 1:12 left in the third and Korver added a pair of 3-pointers in the final 47 seconds to give the Cavs the lead going to the fourth. The team fared surprisingly well, going 14-7 in his absence.

"We know DeMar is a great player and our strategy in the last three years since I've been here is just take away what a team does best", Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said.

Not Good: The Cavs had a rare game with more turnovers than assists. "(But) physically when he's not out there with us, that's the most damaging part for us because we don't have No. 7 out there when we need him to hit those big shots, to get us going, to put his mark on the game or understanding how we need to play".

"The doctors will have something to say about it", Raptors coach Dwane Casey said.

"You work all year to go against the champ in a boxing match".

"If you can find somebody to stop LeBron in these moments, I'll give you $100", DeRozan said. "To beat the champ, you have to throw punches". And maybe they need all those steps before they're ready for it. Tristan Thompson got in the face of Valanciunas after the Lithuanian center dragged James down to the court during a third-quarter skirmish.

The physical play failed to slow the hard-charging Cavs.

Jonas Valanciunas returned to the starting lineup after coming off the bench in Game 2 and scored 23 points. The offense hasn't been stopped as Cleveland has reeled off 116, 125 and 115 points in the first three wins, respectively.

James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5,762 points) for second place with his 27th point in the third quarter, with the rout in this lopsided series already under way.

The Rockets' three-man bench of Eric Gordon, Nene and Lou Williams combined for 10 points on 3-of-19 shooting. They headed into the locker-room at the break up 52-49.
