OnePlus 5 listed on retailer with specs and $449 price tag

OnePlus 5 listed on retailer with specs and $449 price tag

OnePlus 5 has been in the news for a long time and with the launch of the device looming large there are more updates coming our way. OnePlus has today confirmed that it plans to release its next smartphone, which will be called OnePlus 5, this very year.

Previous speculations claimed the company is skipping the number 4 in its product lineup because the number is synonymous to bad luck in the Chinese culture. The users will also notice that the description also includes a 5.3in display.

Stating the second reason, the company says that several OnePlus employees are fans of the former National Basketball Association player Robert Horry whose jersey number was - "5".

If the fast-growing Chinese smartphone marker continues with its success story from OnePlus 3 onwards, it can easily cement its position in high-end smartphone segment. There could also be possibility for two variants, with the other being of 8GB RAM.

The leaked Weibo screenshot was first shared by AndroidPure, and it pegs the storage at 128GB along with 8GB RAM, Hydrogen OS on Android 7.1.2.

The most interesting aspect of the phone is of course the rumoured dual camera setup.

OnePlus holds the capability to shake the worldwide smartphone market even though it launched its first smartphone not many years ago. However, a new listing on Oppo Mart website has not just spilled the beans about the yet-to-be-announced handset's alleged specifications, price and even shipping date. On the front side, there will be a 5.5-inch screen but OnePlus may be sticking to 1080p again, which makes sense for a display that size. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 2.45 quad-core processor with Adreno 540 runs the phone with the help of 6GB RAM. Internal storage, meanwhile, is expected to be 128 GB. On the front, the smartphone is said to feature an 8MP front-facing shooter.

On Weibo, OnePlus posted a teaser with the caption "Hello 5" on it.
