Ex-UFC fighter Tim Hague reportedly brain dead after knockout

Ex-UFC fighter Tim Hague reportedly brain dead after knockout

And his close friend and fellow MMA fighter Cody Krahn also posted on Facebook, writing: As many of you know Tim suffered a severe knockout in his boxing match.

CBC News reported that Hague, 34, was taken to the hospital in critical condition on Friday after being knocked out by former Canadian Football League player Adam Braidwood at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton.

Our deepest condolences go out to Hague's family and friends during this hard and tragic time.

"It is with incredible sadness, sorrow and heartbreak to report that Tim has passed away today", Jackie Neil wrote.

"He was surrounded by family, listening to his favorite songs".

From early in the first round it was clear that Braidwood had the upper hand and Hague was rocked and sent to the canvas several times before he was finally knocked out cold in the second round. "We will miss him with so greatly", the statement reads. A native of Boyle, Alberta, Hague posted a 21-13 pro MMA mark in a decade-long career, including five bouts in the UFC from May 2009 to January 2011.

Afterwards, Hague was left in a coma, and tragically that led to MMA journalist Mike Russell later reporting that, according to multiple sources at the hospital, he had been declared brain dead.

Tim Hague suffered a brain injury during the fight. After the loss to Tuchscherer, he was released from the UFC, but made a quick return on short notice to fight Beltran.

But it was backstage in the dressing room where Hague's main issues began, as the fighter soon began to fall desperately ill in the aftermath of the event.

Many were asking why the fight wasn't stopped long before the knockout. Braidwood earned a devastating knockout victory.
