Shooter James Hodgkinson went to GOP baseball practice with list of names

U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana took a bullet to the left hip in the assault.

The man who opened fire on Republican lawmakers practicing baseball had angrily railed against President Donald Trump the day before the shooting.

No timeline has been given for Scalise's recovery.

Scalise continues to show signs of improvement after he was wounded in a shooting at a Republican baseball practice outside Washington. Medstar Washington Hospital Center said the congressman underwent another surgery Saturday, and that he is more responsive and speaking with family. For three months, Hodgkinson lived out of a white cargo van in a gentrified neighborhood just miles from where US laws are made. He has been sedated, but has been brought out of sedation periodically and been able to recognise and communicate with his family, Sava said.

An official told the Times there were no explicit threats on the list found on James T. Hodgkinson, but that the list included at least three names - Representatives Jeff Duncan, Mo Brooks of Alabama and Trent Franks of Arizona.

According to investigators, while James Hodgkinson was firing at members of Congress Wednesday morning he was carrying a handwritten list in his pocket with names of several Republican congressman.

Mika, a MI native, was one of five people shot when a gunman opened fire Wednesday as the Republican team practiced in Alexandria, Virginia. He posted rhetoric against the political party on social media. "I feel a lot more confident and a lot more optimistic than I did two or three days ago". "I think that his risk of death right now is substantially lower than when he came in. he was as critical as you can be when he came in".

A spokeswoman for Capitol Police did not return CNN's request for comment.

Doctors said Friday that Scalise had a second surgery on Thursday and although he remains in critical condition, his condition has improved.

Bailey was spotted Friday in the Capitol, on crutches and out of uniform, accepting congratulations from fellow officers.
