The flash flood watch is in effect from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Heavy rain began to fall in Easton about 11:30 a.m.

Forget yesterday's news. Get what you need today in this early-morning email. Heavy rainfall in a short amount of time with the thunderstorms could cause flash flooding. "In addition, an isolated tornado is possible".

The Storm Prediction Center is now anticipating a slight to enhanced risk of scattered nasty thunderstorms as depicted here in this chart. The greatest concerns, in addition to heavy rain and frequent lightning will be damaging wind, perhaps some hail. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain are possible.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for the low-lying and flood-prone areas of Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas, St Mary, Portland, St Ann, Trelawny, Manchester, Clarendon and St Catherine.

Flash flood watch to begin Sunday afternoon

According to Doppler radar estimates, 2 to 4 inches of rain had fallen in northern parts of McLean County by midnight, the NWS reported. Damage to trees and power lines was considered possible from the storm.

"We'll likely see some breaks of sun in spots today, with an increasing threat for showers and potentially strong thunderstorms this evening", Hammer said. Even a tornado cannot be ruled out as well.

At 423 PM EDT, flash flooding is already occuring and emergency management have reported road closures and swift water rescues in Ross Township. Plan to take shelter if/when NWS Sterling issues weather warnings. But Tuesday through Thursday present mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging from the high 60s at night to the high 80s in the afternoons.
