Pep Guardiola wants to sign Dani Alves for Manchester City

Pep Guardiola wants to sign Dani Alves for Manchester City

Chelsea are the latest Premier League club to show an interest in signing Dani Alves, according to Sky in Italy.

A move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker has also been reported in recent weeks, as the City boss looks to bring in new faces ahead of pre-season training.

City are searching for defensive options after allowing Bacary Sagna and Gaël Clichy to leave when their contracts expire at the end of this month.

Speaking in 2014, Alves said, "I didn't realise until about five years ago that Manchester had two teams".

Manchester City have agreed a deal for Benfica's Brazilian goalkeeper Emerson Moraes for a fee of 40 million euros.

ESPN's Manchester City correspondent Jonathan Smith tells us who he thinks could be playing under Pep Guardiola in the 2017-18 season.

Those words are likely to be repeated to him if and when he does join Manchester City, but they are certainly not the only comments that may come back to haunt him.

"Last year I turned down many offers from the Premier League because I felt I had to go to Serie A", The Mirror quotes Alves as saying.

Alves has a long and distinguished history working under Guardiola having won three of his six La Liga titles while under the tutelage of the 46-year-old.

Two right-backs, Pep? What are you scheming?

'I wish you the best and hope to spend time together again soon.

But Alves appears to be unimpressed by the rumours, angrily responding to one Italian media company's speculative tweet.
