Special counsel investigating business dealings of Jared Kushner

Recent news reports have suggested Trump sought all three officials' help in pressuring FBI Director James Comey to drop his investigation into former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn. "I look at this team and think this is a joke!" the lawyer said. "Nice", the President tweeted. Kushner was also already under investigation for his secret meetings with several key Russian players, including Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak and Russian banker and Putin spy Sergey Gorgov.

News accounts this week said Trump was considering firing Mueller from his special counsel role, but the White House eventually said he does not plan to.

"I think it is a consideration the President has had because Mueller is illegitimate as special counsel", Christopher Ruddy, the CEO of Newsmax Media, told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day" Tuesday. Comey testified that the member of his leadership team said that although it was true at the moment that Trump was not under investigation, it was possible that could change. The department said last month that under professional responsibility rules, Mueller may participate in matters involving his former firm's clients as long as he wasn't involved in representing them and has no confidential information about them.

Baker is reportedly the official who Comey was referring to.

But days later, Trump said in an NBC interview that he had chose to fire Comey before getting their input and he was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing" when he did it.

Himes says it's important for the committee to conduct its investigation right rather than quickly.

The business dealings of President Donald Trump's son-in-law and trusted aide Jared Kushner are being investigated by Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller, The Washington Post reported Thursday, citing officials familiar with the matter.

Kushner attorney Jamie Gorelick pushed back on the report in a statement Thursday evening.

Mueller, according to reports, is planning to interview key important national security officials about Trump's alleged comments about ending the investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn's reported ties to Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Flynn was forced to resign for misleading administration officials about his contacts with Russia's United States ambassador.

The President tweeted Friday that he was under "investigation", which he called a "witch hunt" in another tweet.

Attorney Jay Sekulow is stressing that "the president has not been and is not under investigation".

Mueller is in the preliminary stages of his probe and has recruited a team of top investigators experienced in money laundering, campaign finance violations and eastern European organized crime.

The Mueller investigation appeared to be reaching a broadening circle of current and former officials.
