Carolina teen missing over a year found alive in Georgia

A 17-year-old girl who left her home in Charlotte, North Carolina has been found alive in Duluth. But we do know what he's being charged with: false imprisonment, sodomy/aggravated sodomy, interference with custody and cruelty to children involving first-degree deprivation.

WBTV spoke with Burns' father past year, who told them the man had coerced his daughter into listening to him and ignoring her parents' wishes.

Burns was found in a house in Duluth after a special agent in Charlotte received a tip about her location. After her disappearance, her parents said she had Asperger's syndrome and was naive, easily manipulated by people she met online, and more like a 12-year-old than a 16-year-old, WCCB reports.

According to the FBI, Burns' family asked for privacy at this time so they can "focus on their daughter", as reported by The Associated Press.

Burns was last been seen at her home at 12:30 a.m. on May 23, 2016.

Burns was found after she connected with a Romanian woman online and the woman learned the teen was missing. Jennifer Elmore, who lives next door to the Wysolovski home, said it made her sick to her stomach that someone could do something like this.

Last month, the Charlotte Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation offered a $15,000 reward for anyone who could help located Hailey.

"We got the first message at 8:09 [P.M.] and then, by 12:32 [A.M.], they had her", Shaunna said. Please pray for our family as we work to help Hailey feel how much she has been missed.

Her father told the station that the man "gradually wormed his way into her good graces". Earlier this year, before she was recovered, Anthony Burns, her father, shared an excerpt from a book of poetry he hopes to publish called 5/23/2016, WSOC-TV reports.

Tony explained that prior to the disappearance, he and his wife were trying to restrict Hailey's use of computers after they discovered she had been chatting with strangers on the internet.
