Video captures teen falling from ride at Six Flags

"There does not appear to be any malfunction of the ride, but we have closed the attraction until the a thorough review can be completed", USA Today reported park officials said in a statement. The girl dangled briefly while her brother held her, screaming for help. Thanks to the guys who banded together to catch her and the guy who climbed the tree to move the branches out of the way.

Onlookers, many of them recording the incident with their cellphones, broke into cheers and applause when the girl landed safely in the arms of several people.

A 14-year-old girl is in stable condition with no serious injuries after falling 25 feet from a ride at Six Flags Great Escape.

Video captured at Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George, New York on Saturday shows a teenage girl, who was dangling from a auto 25 feet above the ground, falling from the ride into the arms of bystanders below.

Officials inspected the ride and said it was in proper working order.

- A 14-year-old girl visiting from DE survived a 25-foot fall from a stopped gondola ride at a Six Flags in upstate New York Saturday night.

The girl, who was riding with a child relative, fell from the auto, striking a tree before landing in a crowd of park guests and employees that had gathered underneath the ride to try to catch her before she hit the ground.

Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Park Services, a Cincinnati-based industry consultant, said he was familiar with the Sky Ride from previous visits to the park. It is unclear why the girl was hanging. "It wouldn't surprise me at all if they put additional safety restrictions on this ride, maybe safety belts".

Emergency personnel treated the teen on the scene, and she was later taken to the hospital.

After the girl began dangling from the gondola, word was relayed to the operator to stop the ride.
