Bucks' Brogdon NBA All-Rookie team

Bucks' Brogdon NBA All-Rookie team

Two pillars for the future of the Milwaukee Bucks were recognized during the NBA Awards Monday night. Antetokounmpo was named to the All-Rookie team in 2014, and he was voted an All-Star starter and named to the All-NBA second-team this season.

Despite playing almost the same number of minutes per game in 2016-17 (35.6) as he did in 2015-16 (35.3), Antetokounmpo increased his scoring average from 16.9 points per game, to 22.9 points per game this season. A second round pick (36th overall) in the 2016 NBA Draft, Brogdon became one of just five rookies in NBA history to shoot 40.0 percent or better from 3-point range while averaging at least 4.0 assists per game. He became just the fifth player in National Basketball Association history to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks for a season, and was the first player in National Basketball Association history to rank in the top-20 for total points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Brogdon beat out finalists Joel Embiid and Dario Saric, both of the Philadelphia 76ers.

In addition to winning ROY, the Rookie of the Year was also named to All-Rookie First Team. He also ranked fifth in total blocks (151) and ninth in total steals (131).

Bucks foward Giannis Antetokounmpo was named to the NBA's All-Defensive second team. D'Antoni, who also won the award while coaching Phoenix.

Antetokounmpo ran away with the award voting, garnering 80 first-place votes out of a possible 100 (the award was voted on by select members of the media). He wants to beat the United States wearing Greek team colors.

"They believe in me, they've given me a tremendous opportunity and it's been a great year".

Antetokounmpo made his boast in front of three retired veterans of the Greek national team that was the last to beat the US, in a 101-95 upset in the semifinals of the 2006 World Championships.

Antetokounmpo, who has played for Greece the past three summers, made his proclamation before an exhibition game that he featured in on Sunday in Athens.

The New York Knicks' Kristaps Porzingis took part in the event a year ago, which was held in an open-air court in Athens' biggest high school.
