Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addresses Indian Community In Netherlands

In their joint statement, Modi and Trump today struck a common note on terrorism, vowing to strengthen efforts to fight the scourge and eliminate safe havens for terrorists.

After wrapping up his own remarks, the Indian Prime Minister hugged his U.S. counterpart a second time, placing his head close to the President's shoulder in video that quickly spread around social media.

He said that relations between India and the Netherlands are century old and the two countries will keep on moving towards stronger ties.

The statement significantly refers to the "Indo-Pacific region" and calls on "all nations to resolve territorial and maritime disputes peacefully and in accordance with worldwide law". CPI national secretary D Raja also said that India is allegedly playing second fiddle to the United States on the issue by buying the theory.

Tiwari further said that the guardian drones, which India was supposed to buy from the USA, even that has not seemed to have materialised. Prime minister Rutte appreciated the lead taken by India to galvanize global action on Climate Change through the initiative and declared that the Netherlands would consider the invitation positively.

Pakistan and terrorism follow the reference to the Indo-Pacific in the joint statement. President Trump's interpretation of Islamic terror is very different from the interpretation that we have of cross-border terrorism which is being sponsored by Pakistan. "This comes from India's growing confidence that it can shape the South Asian narrative in consonance with its interests", Pant, now with the New Delhi-based Observer Research Foundation think tank, said. Indo-Dutch economic engagement is a win-win proposition.

Mr Modi swooped in for two big bear hugs with the US President during their joint statements in the Rose Garden, wrapping his arms around Mr Trump's midsection and ending their first embrace with a lingering handshake that stretched the President's arm between their two lecterns.

But the statement said that in "an increasingly digital world, the leaders agreed to intensify the mutually beneficial partnership to fully harness their innovation capabilities to solve global developmental challenges".
