Who can get around the travel ban?

Who can get around the travel ban? reports that the President's March 6 executive order banned the issuance of new visas to people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days.

He said in a statement that his "number one responsibility" is to keep the American people safe. The unsigned decision was per curiam, that is, for the whole court. Unfortunately, many of those who will be affected are overseas and it may be difficult-at least at first-to know how USA officers overseas are interpreting the stay's language.

The ruling means that visitors from the six designated countries can not be banned if they have a family connection in the USA, have a job with an American entity like The Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals or Google, or are students at US schools like Case, B.W., Cleveland State, Kent State or John Carroll.

Perdue campaigned on his global experience as an executive heading several foreign business operations.

Trump's first executive order aimed to block entry of citizens from seven countries and enforce a temporary stop to all refugee arrivals. The effect on refugees could be greater because they are less likely to have family, school or business relationships in the United States.

Are there still big questions?

"So it's only for those individuals from those six countries that have no pre-existing relationships with the United States whatsoever".

First, the Supreme Court granted the government's petition for certiorari.

Lavinia Limon, CEO of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, said she was dismayed by the ruling, but insisted that her agency has "an existing relationship with incoming refugees, certified and arranged through the Department of State".

When does this take effect?

The court clarified that a "close familial relationship" would exempt an individual who would otherwise be covered by the EO.

A statement from the Department of Homeland Security promised that it would provide additional details on the implementation of the ban after consulting with the Departments of Justice and State.

Is this a win for Trump?

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, said the ban was "rooted in religious animus" toward Muslims and pointed to Trump's campaign promise to impose a ban on Muslims entering the country as well as tweets and remarks he has made since becoming president.

Trump issued a revised travel ban on March 6 after his initial directive signed in January was blocked by a federal judge in Washington state and upheld by the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit in San Francisco, California. The court granted part of that request in its unsigned opinion.

No. The ruling was per curiam, meaning that it was the decision of the court, acting collectively as a unit.

Trump has said that the travel order would go into effect 72 hours after a high court ruling.

Is this a final ruling, then?

The high court will now decide whether applying Colorado's public accommodations law to compel the baker to create "expression"- a wedding cake - violates his constitutionally protected Christian beliefs about marriage.

That review should be complete before October 2, the first day the justices could hear arguments in their new term.
