Lee leaves little leeway for Senate leadership on health care

Lee leaves little leeway for Senate leadership on health care

The proposal could help win over a handful of conservatives who are now opposed to the bill because they believe it doesn't go far enough in gutting Obamacare. Sen.

"I want to get the senator to take a hard look at the compensation that veterans are getting".

"We've got to get 50 out of 52 Republicans", in the Senate, he said.

"Americans with pre-existing conditions will nearly certainly be left without access to affordable and quality health care, making this even worse than the House bill on this issue", Mr. Schumer said.

A version of the legislation, the Better Care Reconciliation Act, that included the Cruz amendment was reportedly sent to the Congressional Budget Office over the recess for an analysis for its impact.

Sen. Ted Cruz is expressing doubt about whether the Republican-backed plan to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama's health care law will pass the Senate.

Outside the radio station several protesters attempted to meet with Cruz, however the Senator did not speak with them.

"I think it'd be catastrophic".

Cruz has been traveling the state trying to hold town hall meetings focused on reforms he is pressing for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Then, however, a small group of attendees shouted "liberal is not a bad word" and denounced the Senate's proposed health overhaul urging Cruz, "Don't vote for it". In McKinney on Wednesday and in Austin on Thursday, Cruz said the agency needs to hire a chief information technology officer to improve the agency's systems and be able to identify problems before they turn into scandals.

"Opioid Prescriptions Falling But Remain Too High, CDC Says": "A new report out Thursday offers a bit of hope: Doctors are prescribing opioids less often, and the average dose they're giving patients has dropped, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The idea that this is sprouting at the last minute is inaccurate".

The Senator and the CVA team head to Houston for the weekend, and Saturday's town hall.

As one Texan commented about Cruz's extremism on health care, "He wants to completely gut Obamacare, and he's one of the few people against the Trump plan because he wants it to be stronger, which is insane".

Since announcing his opposition to the bill, Cruz has met with McConnell and other Senate leaders and Vice President Mike Pence who have tried to get his support for the Senate plan.

Many Republican senators have either called for protecting people with pre-existing conditions or praised the Senate bill unveiled on June 22 for keeping the current protection intact. He said he hasn't decided how he will vote on the Senate's health care bill because he wants to "judge the final product".

Protesters at the rally in front of the Renaissance Austin Hotel admitted they had little chance to get Cruz to back down.

"The draft healthcare legislation preserves access to care for people with pre-existing conditions, strengthens Medicaid and does not change Medicare, gives people more health insurance choices, and allows people to stay on their family health insurance plan until they are 26", Sen.
