David Griffin pulls name from Knicks' front office search, source says

David Griffin pulls name from Knicks' front office search, source says

Steve Mills is the acting team president and met with Griffin in NY on Friday, according to The Post's Marc Berman.

Spears reports Griffin pulled out because "he couldn't come to agreement on the right role with the franchise, a source told The Undefeated".

Griffin's three-year run as general manager with Cleveland is over after one championship and three straight trips to the NBA Finals.

Former Cavaliers GM David Griffin's next job will likely not be with the Knicks. The Knicks, who drafted Hardaway only to have Jackson trade him years later, signed him to a four-year, $71 million contract, a huge amount for a young, still-developing player but a figure big enough to keep Hardaway's previous team, the Atlanta Hawks, from matching it. With Jackson's departure, the Knicks plan to reshape the front office.

The Cavaliers announced on June 19 that Griffin's contract would not be renewed.

Now that the Knicks are Phil Jackson-less, the front office at Madison Square Garden has been looking for ways to do.

Griffin is expected to serve as a television analyst next season, and it's believed he has no other National Basketball Association job opportunities at the moment.

Griffin has been in NY since Friday's meeting with the Knicks, who are looking to bolster their front office following Phil Jackson's departure as president of basketball operations. Team officials say Fultz is expected to return to basketball activities in one to two weeks. He was responsible for acquiring Kevin Love after LeBron James returned to Cleveland, and was part of the decision to make Tyronn Lue head coach in 2016 after firing David Blatt.
