Strike suspended at Philadelphia International Airport

Strike suspended at Philadelphia International Airport

NY air passengers are facing disruption after hundreds of workers at the city's three main airports walked off the job in the midst of a trade dispute.

The workers, who are employed by PrimeFlight, a subcontractor for American Airlines, JetBlue and United Airlines, say they are sick of the company threatening and intimidating them over their efforts to organize. The workers voted to organize into a union and join the 32BJ SEIU, but claim the contractors refuse to negotiate a contract.

The union which represents workers at those airports warned the strikes could resume at any time at those locations.

That was even after the National Labor Relations Board found the company had violated employment laws. Workers at Philadelphia International Airport will also hold off on striking, 6abc.com said.

The labor dispute is between the workers and a private company, PrimeFlight Aviation Services.

Rallies are scheduled at LaGuardia and Newark airports on Wednesday, with a much larger rally planned at JFK on Thursday.

"While the strike is suspended as negotiations get underway, the airport workers are ready to go back on strike should talks fall apart", Hill said in the statement.
