Forbes ranks 49ers ninth most-valuable franchise in the world

Forbes ranks 49ers ninth most-valuable franchise in the world

American business magazine Forbes valued Bayern Munich at $2.71 billion (2.37 billion euros), which ranked 15th in their annual ranking of the world's most valuable sports teams.

Owner Jerry Jones has had oversight on the dramatic growth of his team ever since he bought the team in 1989 for $150 million dollars.

Eight MLB sides also made the list, while the New York Knicks (£2.5bn) were the most valuable of seven sides from National Basketball Association ranked within the top 50. It's now worth $4.2 billion. Again, really an eye-opener for people as to just how much money some of these pro sports franchises really rake in.

Forbes placed the New York Yankees second - up from fourth a year ago - with a value of $3.7 billion.

Next on the list of sports and dollars was the New York Yankees baseball team, worth $3.7 billion, up 9 percent in value from previous year when they were ranked fourth.

It also helps that both franchises are in good positions at the moment. The Cowboys, by the way, are listed tops overall on the list of 50 sports franchises.

Aaron Judge leads a young core of Yankees players as the Bronx Bombers remain among the most valuable franchises in sports.

.

The Vikings ranked 30th overall among sports franchise values and 17th among the 29 National Football League teams that made the Forbes' top 50 (the Bengals, Lions and Bills were outside of the top 50).

The New York Knicks ($3.3 billion), New York Giants ($3.1 billion), San Francisco 49ers ($3 billion), and Los Angeles Lakers ($3 billion) filled out the top 10. Should things keep going the way they're going, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Cowboys and Yankees sitting at the top again in 2018.
