Former US President Carter hospitalized in Canada

Former US President Carter hospitalized in Canada

Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter received medical attention for dehydration while in Winnipeg on Thursday, where he is helping build a Habitat for Humanity home.

A spokesman for Habitat for Humanity in Winnipeg with the president confirmed the collapse and said "He's going to be OK".

The Carter Center said he is in the hospital being rehydrated and his wife is with him.

"As a precaution, he was transported to St Boniface General Hospital for rehydration. He encourages everyone to stay hydrated and keep building", Reckford said.

President Carter has been working hard all week.

Manitoba Families Minister Scott Fielding was with Carter at the work site when the former president said he needed to take a break. He has asked us to continue with our day, so let's talk about why we are here.

Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, long have been supporters of Habitat for Humanity, a global nonprofit housing organization working in almost 1,400 communities across the United States and in about 70 countries around the world.

President Jimmy Carter's motorcade parked outside the emergency entrance to St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. "Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, were working on a house".

"Habitat for Humanity is the best way I've found in my life to put my Christian faith into action", President Carter told volunteers Thursday, according to a tweet from Reckford. George H.W. Bush, who is also in his 90s, was also in the hospital recently, but he has since been released.
