Kid Rock teases run for US Senate in MI

Rock is a MI native, were he to run in the state in 2018 he would be against Democratic senator Debbie Stabenow.

The page includes a picture of Rock with his signature shades and top hat sitting in a stately office, and an option to buy politically-themed Rock merchandise such as Senate hats, stickers and T-Shirts. Rock wrote, "The answer is an absolute YES". The site also boasts a variety of slogans, including "In Rock We Trust", "Born Free" and, um, "Pimp of the Nation". He tweeted that a major announcement is coming in the future. Considering the amount of celebrities that have made their entry into politics, there's a good chance this isn't a joke, but we really, really hope it is.

Kid Rock has not filed any candidacy papers with Michigan Secretary of State's Office, state GOP communications director Sarah Anderson said early Wednesday evening. Kid Rock (real name: Robert James Ritchie) spoke out against former President Barack Obama during his 2012 presidential campaign, instead stumping for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The Federal Election Commission database shows no record yet of a candidate registration for his campaign.

Also on the site is the opportunity for fans to sign up to a mailing list for updates on the surprising revelation, and for those looking to support the star on his political endeavour, merchandise is available, too.

The 46-year-old singer-songwriter, Kid Rock, known internationally for his popular single All Summer Long, has hinted online that he could be preparing for a run for the US Senate. Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat. And maybe soon Kid Rock will be backing him up in the Senate. Despite considering himself a staunch Republican, there are some issues he disagrees with the party on, as he previously explained to The Guardian newspaper.

While Rock hasn't said anything publicly about immigration, he holds staunchly Republican views. "As an ordained minister, I don't look forward to marrying gay people, but I'm not opposed to it".
