New Senate health care bill: What is in the revised plan?

New Senate health care bill: What is in the revised plan?

Some conservatives have already said they won;t support the updated legislation.

New legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act contains the same cuts to Medicaid that would devastate CT financially, the state's two senators said Thursday. This essentially allows insurance companies to offer cheaper plans that don't have all the bells and whistles necessitated under the Affordable Care Act.

"If you were going to school and were getting failing grades in spring semester, you better go to summer school, not take a recess", said Sen. Almost half of all voters - 40 percent - including Democrats and Republicans, want congressional Republicans to keep working on a new healthcare bill, and 47 percent want them to move on.

"It is inconceivable that Senate Republicans would move even further toward jeopardizing the cost and quality of coverage for people with pre-existing conditions simply to appease some of their most radical members", Gov. Cruz said Wednesday that his vote to advance the bill next week would depend on whether he was convinced premiums would lower with the GOP health care bill.

Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) was one of the 10 Republican senators who signed the letter, urging that the cancellation of recess days was not a shot at the leadership, but to work out the kinks in the new health care bill.

"Still deep cuts to Medicaid in Senate bill", Sen.

McConnell hopes to hold a vote on the revised bill next week, after the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office releases a new analysis of what it will cost and how many people it would insure.

The bill needs 50 votes, which it doesn't have.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, also weighed in on Democrats holding up Trump administration nominees, noting that only 46 of 178 had been confirmed as of June 28.

The Senate won't head out on its annual summer recess quite as early as is usual as Republicans struggle to push through a repeal of Obamacare, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Tuesday. Ted Cruz of Texas.

"I'm very pessimistic", Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday. As the Senate works on their own version of the American Health Care Act, passed by the House of Representatives, one Nevada congressman says something has to change, soon.

The current version of the bill repeals a 3.8 percent tax on investment income and a 0.9 percent payroll tax for high-income households, a change that would result in a large tax cut for the wealthiest Americans.
