Bonucci set for Milan move (5)

Bonucci set for Milan move (5)

Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci is close to completing a transfer from Juventus to rival AC Milan that could signal a shift in the balance of power in Serie A.

According to reports in Italy, Juve are demanding €40million for the 30-year-old, although there is some speculation a part-exchange deal involving either Mattia De Sciglio or Alessio Romagnoli could be agreed. Speaking to SportItalia (via Metro), Lucci said: "We're working on a sale".

The centre back, who has won 70 caps for his country, was a summer transfer target for both Manchester City and Chelsea following a successful seven-year spell in Turin.

"Juventus about to sell Bonucci - arguably best centre back in the world - to AC Milan for £35m".

Bonucci joined Juventus in 2010 for €15.5 million from Bari, making a total of 319 appearances and scoring 21 goals.

The defender was dropped for Juve's Champions League round-of-16 first-leg clash with Porto in February as punishment for arguing with Allegri during a 4-1 win over Palermo earlier that month.

In December, Bonucci signed a contract extension with Juventus until 2021.

It is believed that Allegri was unhappy with the discipline shown by the 30-year-old defender, which is why he has chose to let go of him, along with Dani Alves.

With his agent talking to Milan, Bonucci isn't expressing a new feeling, but a tension with Coach Max Allegri, with whom the rapport never truly took off.

Chelsea have already addressed their defensive concerns by signing Antonio Rudiger, but manager Antonio Conte will perhaps be a little disappointed at the timing and the fact he couldn't bring Bonucci to Stamford Bridge.
