Actor Dileep denied bail, Kerala court extends custody

Actor Dileep denied bail, Kerala court extends custody

The bail plea moved by the actor will be considered by the court on Saturday afternoon.

Aluva: A court here on Saturday, 15 July, rejected Malayalam superstar Dileep's bail application. The special prosecutor recalled the actor's statements and reactions before his arrest which apparently preyed on the victim. A leading actress was abducted by a gang in a pre-planned strike on the night of February 17 when she was heading for Kochi from Thrissur in a vehicle.

Earlier today, Dileep's counsel submitted two mobile phones, allegedly used by the actor, to the court in a sealed case and sought scientific examination of them. When asked, Dileep told the court that he had no complaints against the police.

Dileep's lawyer told reporters that they would approach the High Court for bail. The actress was attacked by the gang, led by prime accused Pulsar Suni, on February 17. The police had searched for these phones at Dileep's residence and offices in recent weeks. He remained calm and did not react to mediapersons' questions.

Police had taken the 48-year-old actor, arrested on July 10, to various places in Kochi, Thrissur and Thodupuzha to carry out their investigation. Dileep is accused of hiring goons on "quotation" basis to assault the actress over alleged personal rivalry.

Dileep was alleged with abduction and sexual assault of an actress with whom he had worked in many films.

After his arrest on the charge of conspiracy, Dileep has been expelled from various film forums, including the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), as the industry rallied behind the actress.
