Person of interest in disappearance of 4 men confesses to killings

Person of interest in disappearance of 4 men confesses to killings

Dinardo, the son, has been arrested for trying to sell a vehicle belonging to one of the missing men, Thomas Meo.

The confession came a day after the body of one of the missing men, Dean Finocchiaro, 19, was discovered in a 12 foot deep common grave on his parent's family farm. As part of DiNardo's admission, prosecutors will take the death penalty off the table.

The attorney, Paul Lang, said his DiNardo, 20, confessed to "the four murders" and was prepared to plead guilty to four counts of first-degree murder.

Jimi Tar Patrick, 19, was the first to go missing.

Jimi Patrick, Tom Meo, Mark Sturgis and Dean Finocchiaro all seemed to vanish without a trace after the Fourth of July, and investigators say all of the men knew each other in some way, including Cosmo DiNardo, the person of interest in the case. That's where authorities say they found Meo's auto, his life-saving diabetic kit still inside and his name still on the title, about 4 a.m. Saturday.

Mr Dinardo had previously been arrested on Monday at his home for owning a gun he was not allowed to possess because he had previously been involuntarily committed to a mental health facility, prosecutors said.

Now 20-year-old Cosmo DiNardo, the man police had identified as person of interest, has confessed to killing all four men.

At a press conference early Thursday morning, shortly after midnight, Weintraub addressed DiNardo, saying, "I feel that we bought ourselves a little bit of time in charging Mr. DiNardo with the stolen auto case today and getting that 5 million dollar bail".

He was held on a $1 million bond in that case and was released after his parents posted $100,000 cash bail. Finocchiaro, Sturgis and Meo were last seen on Friday, while Patrick was last seen Wednesday. On Saturday, they got a break: Mr. Finocchiaro's cellphone was tracked to the farm in Solebury Township, where they found Mr. Meo's auto.

The search is not over, and there are still more human remains in the grave, Weintraub said. DiNardo was also charged on Friday.

"We are going to start looking seriously at the homicide charges, in fact we already have pursued that option", he said.

DiNardo's exact participation remains unclear. Weintraub also confirmed DiNardo is the son of the owners of a Solebury Township property investigators have been combing over "with the equivalent of a fine-toothed comb".
