Three militants killed in ongoing encounter in Kashmir'Tral

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, July 15 (Xinhua) - Three militants were killed Saturday in a fierce gunfight with troops in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

The security forces exercised maximum restraint while dealing with the stone pelters who tried to disrupt the operation to help the terrorists flee the spot.

As per unconfirmed reports, the slain terrorists are believed to be associated with the Zakir Musa group that has reportedly broken away from the Hizbul Mujahideen.

Meanwhile, exchange of firing between the militants and government forces was going on at Wantwon Satoora forest area.

Tral Encounter: Two terrorists were gunned down in the encounter.

As per sources, the terrorists were planning major strikes on state highways. As per reports, the encounter began during wee hours on Saturday and the operation is still underway.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi today. A pistol, ammunition, four grenades and a knife were recovered from him.

This came a day after militants attacked a bus carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.
