Ceasefire violation by Pak in Rajouri, Poonch, Indian Army retaliating

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the body of one of the soldiers had been found while the search for the others was under way by the time this report was filed. He also told Mirza that the Indian Army will do everything that's needed to maintain peace along the LoC. Current ceasefire violations have resulted in the highest number of civilian casualties than in the past, he said.

Later in the day, Pakistani troops started unprovoked firing at three villages in Kamalkote area of Uri in Baramulla district around 3 pm.

Raising the issue of repeated ceasefire violation by the Pakistani side along the LoC, India's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lt Gen A K Bhatt, in a telephonic converstaion with his Pakistani counterpart which lasted for almost 10 minutes, told him that the Indian Army reserves the right to retaliate against ceasefire violation.

Lt. Gen. Bhatt, during his hotline contact with Pakistani counterpart, also emphasized that all ceasefire violations had been initiated by Pakistan. India had then declared it would "pro-actively dominate" the LoC by destroying Pak Army posts aiding infiltration, as was reported by TOI.

"Also sixteen schools were closed as a precautionary measure. He was evacuated to the Military Intelligence room where he succumbed to his injuries", the spokesperson said. "Further ambulances were rushed to Ghambir, Panjgrain, Manjakote and Brahmna", he said.

On June 26, the Pakistani Army fired small arms and shelled mortars along the LoC in the Bhimbher Gali sector of Rajouri.

Previous year on November 23, Indian army targeted a passenger bus in the same area, killing 12 civilians. The injured soldier was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

In November, at least nine people were killed when Indian cross-border fire hit a passenger bus in the Neelum Valley, the same region where the four Pakistani troops were allegedly killed.

Pakistan and India had declared ceasefire along the LoC in 2003.

The Pakistani DGMO requested the Indian counterpart to withhold their country from violating the ceasefire agreement along the LoC.
