Dragon Quest XI Confirmed to Come to the West in 2018

Square Enix has officially confirmed that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be coming west in 2018. "There's quite a lot of text, so it's an exorbitant amount of work". Dragon Quest XI will continue in the tradition of using beloved character artist Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama.

Speaking in a special video message to celebrate the announcement, Dragon Quest series creator, Yuji Horii, also introduces an overview of the game and offers an update on the games localisation process.

The prolific franchise celebrated its 30th anniversary a year ago.

With 30 years of history, you'd be hard-pressed to find an American fan who knows the ins and outs of Dragon Quest. Dragon Age 10 ended up being an MMO that remained exclusive to Japan.

While platforms for the Western release were unspecified, the game will likely launch for 3DS, PlayStation 4, and Switch. Thanks to the power of modern consoles, Dragon Quest XI will deliver a title that utilizes the latest and greatest in graphics technology, which should help elevate the highly anticipated title above the rest. The game is now available for PS4 and 3DS in Japan, while a release date for the Nintendo Switch version remains unconfirmed.
