Facebook AI Shut Down Proves Elon Musk Right And Mark Zuckerberg Wrong

Facebook AI Shut Down Proves Elon Musk Right And Mark Zuckerberg Wrong

In a freakish futuristic twist, Facebook has officially shut down two artificial intelligence programs that appeared to be purposely communicating with each other in unusual language that could not be understood by their human controllers. And over the last month, their researchers have been working closely with these AI bots, which they named Alice and Bob, to get a better sense of how their linguistic ability affects their greater goals of negotiation. But, with the news that one of Facebook's AI systems was shut down after creating its own language to communicate with each other that also happened to be uninterpretable to humans, Musk's concerns become reasonable.

Generally, people are both amazed and anxious about the latest developments in AI, where scientist keep churning out robots that are approaching human-like intelligence.

To remedy the situation they then went to the drawing board and implemented a fixed supervised model - and did not shut down the programme - instead to ensure the "dialog agents" stay on course and don't talk in any other language but English. In the process, the bots developed and learned a language that was more efficient to them.

The issues with the chatbots arose as a result of them independently discovering that using English as a means of communication was ineffective, with them creating their own language as a result. Because Facebook researchers have found that chatbots trained in negotiations will sometimes invent unusual new ways to use language to improve their odds of success.

Bob says: "i can i i everything else" followed by a series of full stops, to which Alice replies "balls have zero to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to me to". But unfortunately, Facebook made a decision to pull the plug.

Alice: balls have zero to me to me to me to me... Bob: "You i have everything else".

'Agents will drift off understandable language and invent codewords for themselves. Thus, Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) embarked on a project that utilized reinforcement learning so that AI bots learn how to negotiate better from past experience.

Additionally, linguist Mark Liberman said that it is unlikely that the language is a precursor to new forms of human speech.

"There was no reward to sticking to English language", explained Dhruv Batra, a researcher at Facebook AI Research. They would, for instance, pretend to be very interested in one specific item - so that they could later pretend they were making a big sacrifice in giving it up, according to a paper published by the Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research division.

The second experiment was done to make the bots learn and develop communicating skills.

Somehow, we doubt that use of language will catch on with humanity.
