Nintendo's SNES Classic Edition pre-orders will go live this month

Nintendo's SNES Classic Edition pre-orders will go live this month

The Super NES Classic Edition system was announced some time ago and naturally, pre-orders were maxed out in a matter of hours... in the United Kingdom at least.

In post to Nintendo's Facebook page, the company says that retailers will begin offering pre-orders at the end of this month. Whether people will actually be able to get their hands on one is a whole other matter, however.

It has been more than a month now since Nintendo announced and opened pre-orders for their follow from the smash hit NES Classic, the Super #Nintendo Entertainment System or better known as the SNES Classic.

"A significant amount of additional systems will be shipped to stores for launch day", the post continues, ending with more consoles being sent out to retailers "throughout the balance of the calendar year". It's like the release of the original NES all over again! But it's worth noting that we don't have a baseline-a "significant amount of additional systems" merely indicates that demand for the SNES Classic was greater than Nintendo originally anticipated. Lets hope they will have enough systems for everyone since I predict the SNES mini will be an even hotter item than the NES variant. Will I finally get to try out Star Fox 2 after so long a wait? The NES Classic Edition was sold out nearly immediately, with small restocks arriving and sailing out the door. Don't be surprised if it's completely sold out by September 30. We won't hold our breath, and suggest you do the same.
